Prof Dr Pathmanathan Rajadurai

Dr Pathmanathan graduated with MBBS from the University of Malaya in 1978 with distinction in Pathology. In his postgraduate course, he achieved a distinction for his Master of Pathology and was awarded a distinction for his doctoral thesis on the Molecular Pathology of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. He left the University of Malaya for private practice in 1998, after having served as Professor of Pathology and Deputy Dean, Postgraduate Affairs.

He is currently Senior Consultant Pathologist and Laboratory Director in the Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Subang Jaya. He is at present, also Professor of Anatomical Pathology in the Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine, Monash University (Sunway Campus, Kuala Lumpur), and Honorary Professor of Pathology in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.

Dr Pathma is an examiner in Pathology for the local Master's degree and an examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists, Australasia. He is an established researcher with more than 270 scientific publications in international and peer-reviewed journals. He has contributed to the chapter on nasopharyngeal carcinoma in the 5th Edition of the WHO Classification of Head and Neck Tumours.

Dr Pathma holds many international Fellowships, and was recently made International Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). He serves as advisor and consultant for international organisations such as the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) and the WHO (World Health Organisation), and multinational diagnostics and pharmaceutical companies, including Roche, Astra-Zeneca, MSD, Pfizer and Novartis. He is a member of many national and international advisory boards, and is frequently invited to speak at local and international meetings.
His current research areas are in the molecular pathology of cancers, telepathology and digital imaging.
