Innovation technology and artificial intelligence are significantly changing the field of healthcare. In an acute healthcare setting, the use of virtual wards evolved with COVID and since then we have seen the development of this service to manage patients in their own homes. The aim of this presentation is to highlight the effectiveness in the virtual management of patients with respiratory disease mainly COPD in the acute hospital. The benefits include admission avoidance, reduced length of stay, increased patient satisfaction and outcomes and flexible models of working for healthcare professionals.
